Arequipa White City, Peru's second city

Arequipa has a variety touristic resources is a without doubts one of the cities more attractives.

Besides of Arequipa had been declared like cultural heritage of the humanity , it has a varety of natural attractives ( Valley of Colca , Volcanoe Misti , Canyon of Cotahuasi,etc.) Archeologic rests (“Toro Muerto y la Dama de Hielo”) high provinces andes with music and dance on customs; and the monastery of Santa Catalina “city inside of the city”.

Arequipa is situated in the down part of the occidental Andes and it is around of amazing volcanoes. The most famous volcanoe is “The Misti” , (5,821), symbol of the city that it can be percieving from “the plaza of Armas”and besides of the misti is between of other two big volcanoes which are : Chachani (6,075m) and Pichupichu (5,425m).

Arequipa is known as “Ciudad Blanca” because to its white color of the stone “sillar” used on its colonial buildings. The Capital of Arequipa city was founded for the spanish Garci Manuel de Carbajal on 15 of August of 1540. The originality and varety of its landscape with the impressive volcanoes, andens, valleys and canyons. The Traditions and pre-hispanic arts, the beautiful climate, the gastronomy and the impressive architectural heritage colonial-eclesiathic and civil ,doing of the city and its region one of the touristic centers more attractive of Peru.
